Modern Apprenticeships

At North Wales Training Award Ceremony Sam Foulkes picked up the Learner of the Year Award.

Sam started an apprenticeship with DRB Machining Ltd. in June 2007 and has studied through training provided by Deeside College. He completed his N.V.Q. Levels 1 to 3 Key Skills and O.N.C. qualifications quickly and had already progressed onto a H.N.C.! He is currently still balancing his studies through Deeside College with his work at DRB Machining Ltd., and is hopeful to complete his apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering by June 2009. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Sam aims to fulfill his ambitions of achieving a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

DRB General Manager, Keith Vivian, added “Apprentices are the lifeblood and future of the DRB Group. Without them we have no future and that’s why DRB invest in our apprenticeship programme. This commitment to training will drive DRB to future success and Sam will be a part of that future”.

Sam added “The training provided through my apprenticeship has helped me immensely in my role at DRB Machining. It has been relevant and current to the industry I work in.  The support given by DRB has been excellent, there is always someone on hand should I need any assistance”.
