DRB Employees fundraise for Soldiers in Afghanistan

Employees have made donations to send parcels to the 1st Battalion Royal Welsh Regiment

Clive Jones and his wife Yvonne, both employees at DRB, have been collecting donations and items to be boxed and sent to the troops in Afghanistan. Clive who used to be a soldier in the 1st Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers, wanted to help boost morale and to show support for 1 Platoon Alpha Company 1st Battalion Royal Welsh Regiment.

Clive and other employees have generously donated a total of £443; this includes £150 that was donated by the DRB group for this worthwhile cause. Clive and Yvonne used the money to buy goods such as clothes, food, toiletries and sweets so that they could be boxed up and sent to the troops.

A total of 24 parcels were delivered by Clive to Dale Barracks in Chester, and will then be sent to the 1 Platoon Alpha Company who are currently serving in Afghanistan. Whilst Clive was at the Dale Barracks he met several soldiers who were waiting to go out to Afghanistan and they commended Clive and the staff at DRB for such a generous donation from a local company.

The Royal Welsh regiment is half way through their tour in Afghanistan and so Clive and Yvonne are continuing to collect donations and plan to send more parcels in 3 weeks' time.
