Support to Broughton Carnival by DRB

On the 1st of June, DRB supported the Broughton Carnival by providing the parade with floats.

On Saturday June 1st DRB was pleased to support the Broughton Carnival which was held at Brooke’s Avenue playing field by providing the parade with floats. For the last three years DRB has provided transport for the carnival.

DRB provided a transit van to transport the retiring carnival queen, the seven and a half ton wagon for the transportation of the new carnival queen and the eighteen ton wagon was used for Broughton Amateur dramatic groups (B.A.D.G.).

DRB did not just supply the transport for the parade, there was also a great deal of planning involved, meetings with the police and local council regarding road closures etc. DRB was also responsible for the health and safety during the parade.

Cllr Sue Stevens, speaking on behalf of the carnival committee, has thanked DRB for our help. “Without DRB, the parade would not have been possible.” She also thanked Richie Wheatley, our transport manager, for his involvement and support at the event and for ensuring everything ran as smoothly as possible.

Many other organisations were involved, Dandy’s and Challenger provided DRB with radio communication equipment and Heart radio have always attended the carnival but this year also participated in the parade itself.

The event brought different groups in the community together and DRB was pleased to be able to contribute to such a successful event once again demonstrating its commitment to the local area.
