Case Study 1 - Merseyrail

DRB were approached by Merseyrail to provide a solution to an industry problem with the bogies fitted to their trains. Brackets for retaining the braking mechanism to the vehicle bogies required modification along with the mounting points on the bogies. DRB developed a machining procedure to accurately modify the mating surfaces of the brackets and the bogies ensuring interchangibility of brackets and accuracy of fit.

This procedure was then further developed with the rail authorities and is used for this modification across all relevant classes of trains.
